Coxs Rest is a nature based eco-tourist retreat fronting the Cox River in the picturesque Megalong Valley, in the UNESCO World Heritage listed Greater Blue Mountains area. On a visually sensitive and highly degraded site, Arterra worked closely with the Client and Blue Mountains City Council to prepare a master plan and set of design principles for the restoration and development of a low-key retreat on this 190 hectare site. Our reports outlined ways to transform the significantly degraded farmland into a showcase of environmentally sustainable design solutions, incorporating a small number of self-contained accommodation units and a conference centre within a setting of wildlife protection and bush regeneration.
