This was a ground-breaking project for McDonalds Australia. Located in the rapidly growing area of north west Melbourne on a windy, harsh and high visibility site, the landscape of the new Delahey restaurant represented a massive shift in the environmental stance taken by McDonalds in Australia. Arterra's landscape included water harvesting from the car park areas to maximise infiltration and groundwater recharge, extensive use of drought tolerant, low maintenance plants and trees, water saving soil additives, no turf and extensive use of decorative gravel surfaces. The design of the site was a logical development from the landscape design guidelines prepared by Arterra for McDonalds in 2004.
