Arterra completed a detailed inventory and assessment of twenty eight trees on and adjacent to the site. Of particular importance were two large 1850s Moreton Bay Figs on the adjacent historic property. Close liaison with Woollahra Council's Tree Preservation Officer was essential to ensure Council's satisfaction with the proposed design. Exploratory root trenching aided our assessment of the potential effect on the trees by the development. Architectural changes were then made to better accommodate the existing trees. Arterra also acted as an expert witness to defend our tree impact assessment opinions during the Land and Environment Court case. Arterra monitored and managed the health of the trees whilst intensive construction activities successfully took place beside and beneath the trees.
