Landscaping around a large warehouse on a small and steep site is always a challenge. This challenge was increased with the site being adjacent to expansive areas of remnant Hawkesbury Sandstone bushland and was therefore subject to competing bushfire and development controls which stipulated a strictly native plant palette and a desire to screen and soften the built forms. We instigated the capture of the roof water for irrigation, salvaged and reused the natural site topsoils and designed a natural assemblage of plants to soften and screen this warehouse all within a minimal budget.
